His musical influences include Damien Rice, Ryan Adams, Stephen Fretwell, Dylan, The Beatles, Oasis, Finn Brothers, Bernard Fanning, Neil Young, The Eels, Coldplay, David Gray, Jeff Buckley, Brandon Flowers.
Porter's debut EP, Sleeping Under The Stars, was released in November 2012. It included the track ‘She Only Goes’ which went to number one on Cambridge 105FM’s unsigned chart, where it held top position for 13 weeks. He appeared on the Cambridge station's charity Christmas single, and was also an area finalist in the Open Mic UK Competition.
His 'Keep Going' EP, released in Nov 2015, includes a duet with folk artist Melody Causton and backing vocals from former Bombay Bicycle Club singer Amber Wilson. That year brought another NMG Award nomination.
Since then he has secured radio play from BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 2 and made many festival appearances including ‘How The Light Gets in and Homegrown Festival’. He had successful UK tours in October 2016 and 2017. The new album Lanes is produced by Dave Gerard, and sold out at its launch gig in London.
From 18th March for one week we will be featuring “Mesmerized” remixed by Foursixone. from Karmacoda’s latest album.
It's been over a decade since Karmacoda was founded. What started as an experimental music project in between bands, has turned into six studio albums, several remix records and a live album. They are a trio of musicians from California making music that is modern yet deeply moving and emotional.
Their songs, often cinematic in scope and vibe, have been featured prominently in film and television soundtracks and have won a number of music awards. The band consists of songwriter/vocalist/producer B., bassist Eric Matsuno and the amazing vocalist Jessica Ford who joined in 2015.
Their 2018 album Intimate blends organic and electric sounds and is filled with lush musical landscapes, hooky choruses, moving vocal performances and melodies that linger.
An album of remixes by producers such as Tyler Stone, Urban Punks and Shannon Hurley will be released on 19th March AND SWITCH DUNMOW HAS BEEN GIVEN THE PRIVILEGE OF HOSTING THE FIRST PLAY OF THE ALBUM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD..
